------------------------------------------------------------------------------
InfoMaster vX.XX by Cory Wright, The Rising Connection 615-531-8789 070/002
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
conceived February 18, 1990 - For use with GT Power v15.00, v15.01, and v15.50
Purpose and Objective
---------------------
InfoMaster is a direct replacement for both 'InfoShow' and 'WhoDis?' that
allows the sysop to see who is on during an external download (Zmodem,
etc) and includes support for all external protocols (even Bimodem!),
except for Puma and Lynx which clear the screen.
Invocation
----------
Running InfoMaster is about the easiest thing one could do. Simply
place the program's name before running your protocol in each of your
??TX.BAT and ??RX.BAT batch files for GT. I recommend that you place
an 'ECHO OFF' command as the first line in ALL of your protocol batch
files to insure having a clean screen. This is a *MUST* when using
InfoMaster with Bimodem. Another requirement is that your protocols
be overlaid. If you do not overlay your protocols, and you are a
registered user, you may find that InfoMaster sometimes thinks you are
in terminal mode! Overlaying protocols is easy. Go into option 6
(External Protocols) on the ALT-I menu from terminal mode, and change
each protocol so that the OVERLAY? question is 'Y' for YES. You
should also be sure you've got a /V:E on the GT command line.
* Command line parameters
∙ BIMODEM - puts InfoMaster in BiModem mode so the user
information wraps around all 4 sides of the screen.
∙ DEFAULT - uses preset colors for InfoMaster.
∙ REGISTER - puts InfoMaster in registration mode to facilitate
easy registration. Don't use this paramater in a
batch file, of course!
∙ BIOS - forces InfoMaster to use BIOS screen writes
* Parameters may be stacked on the command line any which way.
Examples: INFOMAST BIMODEM
INFOMAST BIMODEM DEFAULT
INFOMAST DEFAULT
INFOMAST DEFAULT BIMODEM
etc.....
* Again, be sure that you've got an ECHO OFF as the first line in all of
your protocol batch files.
* InfoMaster will exit with errorlevel 1 upon all errors. 0 if none.
Features
--------
* Shows plethora of information about the caller who is doing a file
transfer. It even works with BiModem by wrapping the information
around the screen.
* Registered users get many benefits.
∙ Color
∙ BiModem information support
∙ Terminal mode awareness
∙ Super Indexing to speed subsequent executions during the same call.
∙ A few other surprise additions.
* Auto-resist black color (0), remap to 7 (normal).
* Super Indexing. The first time a caller uses the door,
Infomaster runs normally. Every subsequent use of InfoMaster during
that call is almost instantaneous! (Registration Req.)
* Automatic sensing of Terminal Mode. When the sysop is using
his GT Host to dial out and download files, InfoMaster will sense
that the board is not in operation and give way to the protocol
instead of displaying an information screen. (Registration Req.)
[Perry Alexander] You must also overlay your protocols!!!
* LAN Support
- Automatic recognition; no extra command line switches needed!
- File locking logic was provided courtesy of Bob Camp.
* Shows free space on current drive.
* Infomaster picks up colors from the GT.CNF file or uses its own
depending on if the DEFAULT switch is on the command line.
Restrictions
------------
* InfoMaster can't be used with Puma or Lynx (in color screen mode) since
both of those protocols clear the screen.
* You gotta register!! But, it is FREE, so what have you got to
lose. I mean, sure, you can use it for 30 days without
registering, but you'll also be without color, without Bimodem
support, without Super Indexing, and without terminal mode
awareness.. Bummer eh? Just call The Rising Connection at
615-531-8789 and open the InfoMaster registration door! It's easy,
and you get your CRC on the spot!!
"Why should I upgrade from WhoDis or InfoShow?"
-----------------------------------------------
InfoMaster is not only faster than WhoDis or InfoShow, it also provides a
more complete and easy to read informational screen in a smaller area AND
has Bimodem information support. It will also allow you to speed up
your GTLOGON.BAT file if you were using a pre-WhoDis scan with the /S /Q
option in WhoDis. Speed is the big factor InfoMaster has over InfoShow
along with Bimodem support -- I hope you enjoy it.
"Wow, this is a great program."
